tide of treasure exhibition
Early example of exploring plastic flotsam and jetsam collected around the beaches of North Devon, arranged in small acrylic container's.
detail of one of the eight little boxes of flotsam and jetsam collected around the beaches of North Devon.
I found so many rubber gloves on the beaches and sadly many dead seagulls and birds killed by fishing hooks and twine. I collected some of the feathers over time and tied them together with the discarded fishing twine and weights.
Yet more discarded rubber gloves I love the way they look like they are floating in the sky when in fact they were in a small pool in the sand.
I walked up the beach in torrential rain and eventually decided to sit and have have a cup of tea I saw these really tall pieces of drift wood 8 or 9 feet high which I gathered together then to my delight the sun shone with such a light that I was inspired to create an arrangement. When the tide came in they were all washed back into sea.
This photograph shows the selection of flotsham that I found in one day on the beaches of North Devon.
