The brain is wonderful .
It connects us to everything if we let it.

I was exploring the way I perceive my reality which I sometimes struggle with .

Although it can be difficult to be open about our thoughts, I was inspired by the interesting conversations with visitors.

Making a clay structure at Broomhill sculpture gardens

We call it the holiday beach it is so beautiful.
As usual I am rummaging for interesting things.

Playing classical guitar.

Sometimes I play at my exhibitions. I had a brilliant teacher, Nathan Vernon .

I do have breaks from playing.


I enjoy the discipline and the way I can be absorbed trying to make each note. I was in a band many years ago, classical guitar is so different it distracts me from my thoughts and can give me a sense of calm. Nathan also introduced me to a wider selection of music.

I have always loved music. I am lucky to have a musical family.

Is the floor level

I built my studio which started small several years ago it has been growing ever since . I love it.
Many friends have been involved in the build.
I enjoy making things. I find my creativity everywhere.
It did take some time to make the floor level though.

Part of a series where I photographed each layer of paint, some wet others dry. -there were many. eventually covering the whole thing with casting plaster.

In the end all that remained a was a white plastered canvas and a series of photographs, the only proof that there was anything underneath.

My thinking was:
When is a painting a sculpture and an invisible painting a series of photographs?
Makes you think.

In the undergrowth photographing water Exmoor

Down End, for a long time this place was my open studio and was my favorite cove in the world. I have done extensive work here.

Originally from Birkenhead Merseyside
During a visit to Devon about twenty years ago I decided right then to move here. I can't imagine living anywhere else. I live in a cottage in Hartland now with a beautiful garden near the sea.

I have been an artist for more than forty years and have exhibited nationally. I have designed and undertaken many art projects , commissions and residencies.
